Major League Baseball

Baylor has produced 38 Major League Baseball players in the program’s 103-year history, including Ted Lyons — the only former Southwest Conference player ever enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Those former Bears have logged 151 years of Major League service. Six former Bears have been active since September 2008 call-ups: pitchers Jason Jennings and Kip Wells, catcher Kelly Shoppach, outfielder David Murphy, first baseman Mark Saccomanno and infielder Drew Sutton. Nearly 100 Baylor players have been selected in the Major League Baseball Draft with 10 first-round selections, including 2009 first-round selection Aaron Miller. At least one Baylor player has been selected in 33 of the last 34 first-year player drafts and each year since 1991.
